Cleaning the PL4 Printer
Printer Part
Cleaning Method
Printhead
Use the cleaning pen that came with your printer or
70% isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab to clean the
print elements from end to end (the print elements are
located in the thin gray line on the printhead).
Platen roller
Rotate the platen roller and clean it thoroughly with
the cleaning pen that came with your printer or 70%
isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.
Printers with linerless platens: Rotate platen and clean
bearing points only. Avoid use of alcohol on the
surface of linerless platens.
Self-strip bar
Clean thoroughly with 70% isopropyl alcohol and a
cotton swab.
Tear bar
Clean thoroughly with 70% isopropyl alcohol and a
cotton swab.
Media rollers
Clean thoroughly with 70% isopropyl alcohol and a
cotton swab.
Printers with linerless platens: Rotate media rollers and
clean bearing points only. Avoid the use of alcohol on
the surface of the media rollers.
Exterior
Clean with a water-dampened cloth.
Interior
Brush or air blow. Make sure the bar sensor, gap
sensor, and label taken sensor windows are free of dust.
Printers with linerless platens: Clean inside surfaces of
edge guides and media support rollers with 70%
isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.
