You can use ActiveSync to establish a connection between your desktop PC
and an Intermec computer running Windows Mobile 5.0 for file viewing
and synchronization, remote debugging, and other device management
activities.
Note: The Intermec computer automatically disables the 802.11 radio
when you use ActiveSync. When you perform a cold boot, you will lose the
configuration settings that enable a connection to ActiveSync. RF or
Ethernet settings remain after a cold boot.
You can find instructions for using ActiveSync when you download the
software. You can download ActiveSync from the Microsoft web site at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/default.mspx
To establish a partnership between an Intermec computer and a desktop
PC, you must use a serial cable or a USB cable. If you have an Intermec
mobile computer, you can also use a single dock. To order a cable or dock,
contact your Intermec sales representative.
To install ActiveSync and establish a partnership with your Intermec
computer, refer to the computer user's manual and the Microsoft
documentation.
Once you have installed ActiveSync and established a partnership with your
Intermec computer, you can use ActiveSync to explore, copy, and delete
files on the computer.
To explore files on the Intermec computer
1 Install ActiveSync and establish a partnership with the Intermec
computer. For help, see the previous section,
2 In the ActiveSync window on your desktop PC, click Explore.
ActiveSync starts a mobile device session in Windows Explorer.
3 Browse the files on the Intermec computer. For help, see the ActiveSync
and Windows Explorer documentation.
4 Close the mobile device session and disconnect from ActiveSync.
After you have created a partnership using ActiveSync, use it to re-establish
the connection between the Intermec computer and your desktop PC.
