SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

PRECA U TION S D U RIN G SERV ICIN G
1. Parts identifide by the
for safety. Replace only with parts number specified.
2. In addition to safety, other parts and assem blies are
specified for conform ance w ith such regulations as
those applying to spurious radiation.
These m ust also be replaced only w ith specifide
replacem ents.
Ex am p l es :RF co n v er t er s, t u n er u n i t s, an t en n a
selectsw itches, RF cables, noise blocking capacitors,
noise blocking filters, etc.
3. Use specified internal wiring. Note especially :
1) Wires covered w ith PVC tubing
2) Double insulated w ires
3) High voltage leads
4. Use specified insulating m aterials for hazardous live
parts. Note especially:
1) Insulation Tape
2) PVC tubing
3) Spacers(insulating barriers)
4) Insulation sheets for transistors
5) Plastic screw s for fixing m icro sw itches
5. W h en r ep l aci n g A C p r i m ar y si d e co m p o n en t s
(t r an sf o r m er s, p o w er co r d s, n o i se b l o cki n g
capacitors, etc.), w rap ends of w ires securely about
the term inals before soldering.
6. M ake su r e t h at w i r es t o d o n o t co n t act h eat
p r o d u ci n g p ar t s (h eat si n ks, o x i d e m et al f i l m
resistors, fusible resistors, etc.).
7. Check that replaced w ires do not contact sharp
edged or pointed parts.
8. Also check areas surrounding repaired locations.
9. M ake su r e t h at f o r ei g n o b j ect s (scr ew s, so l d er
droplets, etc.) do not rem ain inside the set.

Used batteries w ith the ISO sym bol for recycling
as w ell as sm all accum ulators (rechargeable
batteries), m ini-batteries (cells) and starter
batteries should not be throw n into the garbage
can.
Please leave them at an appropriate depot. All other house-
hold batteries can be thrown out with the household waste.
SA FETY CHECK A FTER SERV ICIN G
After servicing, m ake m easurem ents of leakage-current
or resistance in order to determ ine that exposed parts
are acceptably insulated from the supply circuit.
The leakage-current m easurem ent should be done
b et w een accessi b l e m et al p ar t s (su ch as ch assi s,
ground term inal, m icrophone jacks, signal input/output
co n n ect o r s, et c.) an d t h e ear t h g r o u n d t h r o u g h a
r esi st er o f 1500 o h m s p ar al l el ed w i t h a 0.15
capacitor, under the unit's norm al w orking conditions.
4
( )symbol parts are critical
The leakage-current should be less than 0.5m A rm s AC.
The resistance m easurem ent should be done betw een
accessible exposed m etal parts and pow er cord plug
prongs w ith the pow er sw itch (if included) "ON". The
resistance should be m ore than 2.2M Ohm s.
PRECA U TION S IN REPA IRIN G
When repairing or adjusting the unit, please note the
follow ing points.
1. Do not put excessive pressure on the m echanical
part (operation part), including the pick-up block, as
extrem ely high m echanical precision is required in
these parts.
2. When the base is rem oved for repair adjustm ent,
m ake sure that there are no m etal obiects in the
narrow gap betw een the P. C. board or the m echa
parts and the base
3. The M icro-Com puter and the CD signal processing
ICs can be dam aged by static electricity or leakage

4. Do not loosen any screw s in the pick-up block.
When handing the pick-up block, please refer to the
points to NOTE w hen replacing the pick-up block.
5. Keep safety for hazardous invisible Laser Radiation,
DO NOT w atch the Laser Beam (Objective lens)
directly.
6. M odels for som e countries, laser w arning labels are
affixed on the unit and inside of the unit, as show n
