A. Applicable models:
VSX-92TXH & VSX-94TXH
B. Required tools and equipment:
•
PC with RS-232 serial port (9 pins) and Windows 98, 98SE, 2000 or XP
•
RS-232 cable (Cross/Serial cable DB9 Female
This cable can be purchased from www.cablewholesale.com,
•
Software program for updating "UFU.exe". It is in the *.zip file from Pioneer's ASC website.
•
Firmware upgrade files with "mot" extension. They are in the *.zip file from Pioneer's ASC website.
•
These Instructions. This is also in the *.zip file from Pioneer's ASC website.
•
DVD/CD Player with Digital Audio Coaxial or Optical output.
Note: Use only players with MTK system (DV-270, 370, 373, 575K, 280, 380, 383, etc. ), Mitsubishi system
(DV-59AVi, 868AVi, S969AVi, 668AVi, etc. ) or Fujitsu system (DV-343, 444, 545, etc.)
DO NOT use DVD player based on ST system (DV-353, 454, 250, 400, 555K, 260, 363, 464, 466, 563, etc.)
because these players can't send the correct data to the receiver. Refer to the "DVD Firmware Matrix by
Model" on Pioneer's ASC website for a complete list..

Coaxial Digital Audio or Optical Digital Audio cable.
•
DSP Flash Rom Firmware disc – Contact Field Service Operations at 800-930-6909 for availability.
Note: Must order this part from Field Service Operations.
This disc can be created using any CD burning software and following the instructions for creating a Music
CD (not data CD) with the file *.wav included in the *.zip file from Pioneer's ASC website.

  • Page 3 4. Within 4 seconds press the “ENTER” (21) key and “HDMI DL [GO ON]” is displayed. Open the UFU.exe program and select “Full” in “Mode Select” box. Click on the “File Selection” button. 6. Select the latest HDMI u-com firmware file (Example: 07MID_hdmi_flash_1006.mot). Check Pioneer’s ASC website for the latest firmware files.

    4. Within 4 seconds press the “ENTER” (21) key and “DSPM DL [GO ON]” is displayed. Open the UFU.exe program and select “Full” in “Mode Select” box. Click on the “File Selection” button. 6. Select the latest DSPM u-com firmware file (Example: 07MID_DSP_1004.mot). Check Pioneer’s ASC website for the latest firmware files.

Select the latest MAIN u-com firmware file (Example: 07MID_main_1006(071011).mot). Check Pioneer’s ASC website for the latest firmware files.
  • Page 7 II. DSP1 & DSP2 FLASH ROM Note: When using Pioneer DVD players, only certain models can be used. They are models based on the MTK system (DV-270, 280, etc), Mitsubishi system (DV59AVI, etc), or Fujitsu system (DV-343, 444, etc). DO NOT use Players based on the ST system (DV353, 563, etc) because these players can’t send the correct data to the receiver.
