Rebuild the kernel by running /sbin/ddr_config , then reboot the system with the tape drive
attached. Device files for the Ultrium drive will be generated in /dev/tape and /dev/ntape
when you reboot.
The names of the device files can be interpreted as follows:

Devices in the /dev/ntape directory are "no-rewind" devices. Those in /dev/tape will
perform rewind on close.
