OPERATION

Before using the Sound Level Meter, the
tester's battery should be checked, and the
meter calibration should be verified and/or
adjusted.
Battery Check
1) Set Function Switch to BATT.
2) The meter needle should be in the area of
the scale marked B. OK. If it is not, the
battery needs replacing. Follow battery
replacement instructions in the Mainte-
nance section.
Meter Calibration
1) Set the Function Switch to CAL.
2) The meter needle should be at 70 dB on
the low range. If it is not, follow the meter
calibration instructions in the Maintenance
section.
Measuring Sound Level
Measure sound level at least one yard (or
meter) from the sound source. Turn function
switch to the high range and read the meter. If
the meter needle does not move, or does not
change when the sound level changes, switch
to low range and read meter. Turn meter off
after reading to conserve battery power.
