RAID Introduction

What is RAID?
This motherboard implements tw o different ty pes of RAID levels as follow s:
RAID 0 (stripe)
For capacity -- The motherboard array w ill be as big as the smallest H DD in the array times
how ever many H DDs are in the array. Any larger H DDs w ill simply be truncated. The truncated
space on the bigger H DDs w ill then be unusable.
For sustained data transfers -- A RAI D 0 array consisting of tw o H DDs w ill transfer at about tw ice
the speed of the slow est H DD in the array. A RAID 0 array consisting of four H DDs w ill transfer at
about three times the speed of the slow est H DD in the array.
RAID 1 (mirror)
For capacity - This Motherboard array w ill be as big as the smallest H DD in the array. The larger
H DD w ill simply be truncated. The truncated space on the bigger H DD w ill then be unusable.
For sustained data transfers -- This motherboard array w ill w rite data at the rate of the slow est
H DD in the array. This motherboard array w ill read data at tw ice the rate of the slow est H D D in
the array.
