Have the front edge of the battery lined up with the 1 mark on the side of the AC Adapter, and then slide it horizontally until it locks with a click. ¡If the DC Input Cable is connected to the AC Adapter, disconnect it as charging is not possible otherwise.

    EJECT ENGLISH Inserting the Cassette Slide the [EJECT] Lever 1 upward to open the Cassette Compartment. Insert the cassette. Insert the cassette with its window in position 2. Close the Cassette Compartment and press the [PUSH TO CLOSE] Button to lock the Cassette Compartment.

    ENGLISH « LP Mode The desired recording speed can be selected with [REC-SPEED] on the Menu. (m 61-64) If you select the LP Mode, the possible recording time is 1.5 times as long as in the SP Mode. Recording in the LP mode does not deteriorate the picture quality.

    2, 3 POWER ENGLISH Using the Finder Before using the Finder, adjust it to your eyesight so that the indications in the Finder are clear and easy to read. Set the [POWER ON/OFF] Switch to [ON]. Slide the Finder outward. The Finder can be adjusted outward.

    ENGLISH Adjusting the Grip Belt You can adjust the Grip Belt to the size of your hand. Open the Grip Belt Cover and adjust the length of the Grip Belt. Attaching the Shoulder Strap Before you go recording outside, we recommend that you attach the Shoulder Strap to prevent the Camera Recorder from dropping accidentally.

    CAMERA ENGLISH Recording When the Mode Selector is set to [AUTO] 1, you can simply turn on the Camera Recorder and press the Start/Stop Button to start recording, and the focus and white balance are adjusted automatically. ¡ Depending on the light source and recording situation, correct automatic focusing and white balance adjustment may not be possible.

    1,3,1,3 FADE POWER ENGLISH Fading In/Out Fading In 1 Fading-in lets you make the picture and sound appear gradually from a white screen at the beginning of a scene. With the Camera Recorder in the Recording Pause Mode, keep the Fade Button [B] pressed.

For certain types of subjects and lighting conditions, however, this Auto White Balance Adjustment Mode may not be able to ensure natural colors (m 78, 79).

    ENGLISH Adjusting the White Balance Manually Use the Manual White Balance Adjustment Mode for all types of lighting outside the range 1 (m 79), as the Auto White Balance Adjustment Mode can only ensure natural colors for the types of lighting within that range. For optimum results under almost any types of lighting, we recommend that you adjust the white balance manually for each new scene.

For example, when you record a person who moves from a bright to a dark place, or vice versa, this function prevents the person’s face from becoming brighter or darker.

    SHUTTER/IRIS VOL/JOG MENU ENGLISH Other Convenient Functions Zebra Pattern Using the Zebra Pattern makes it easy to adjust the brightness of the picture to an optimum level, even before you start recording. If you set [ZEBRA] on the Menu to [ON], diagonal white bands (Zebra Pattern) appear in the Finder on parts of the picture which are overexposed (extremely brightly lighted and shiny subjects).

However, when using the ND Filter and recording with Auto White Balance, the white balance adjustment may not be precise.
