1. Touch and hold an app icon on the home screen or the app list.
2. From the displayed options, touch the function you want to use.
NOTE:
You can touch and hold next to an option and drag it to the
home screen to create a shortcut.

Notification Dots (App Badges)

Some apps can display a dot or a number to indicate that they have
new or unhandled notifications. The indications appear on the app
icons on both the home screen and the app list screen.
Touch and hold an app icon with a notification dot to preview its
new notifications without going to the notification panel.
To show the app badge as dot or number:
Touch and hold an empty area of the home screen and touch
Settings > Home screen badge app icon > Show badge as.
