15.6 When engine begins to fire
► Set the Master Control lever (1) to the starting
throttle position (n).
► Press the button to open the decompression
valve.
► Hold and start your saw as described.
15.7 As soon as the engine runs
► Blip the throttle trigger (2), the Master Control
lever (1) moves to the run position (F) and the
engine settles down to idling speed.
► Pull the hand guard back towards the front
handle.
The chain brake is now disengaged – your saw is
ready for operation.

NOTICE
Always disengage chain brake before accelerat‐
ing the engine. High revs with the chain brake
engaged (chain locked) will quickly damage the
clutch and chain brake.
15.8 At very low outside tempera‐
tures
► Allow engine to warm up at part throttle.
15.9 Stopping the Engine
► Move the Master Control lever to the stop
position (0).
15.10 If the engine does not start
► Check that all settings are correct.
► Check that there is fuel in the tank and refuel if
necessary.
► Check that the spark plug boot is properly con‐
nected.
► Repeat the starting procedure.

It is possible that the fuel-air mixture in the com‐
bustion chamber is over-rich and has flooded the
engine.
► Remove the spark plug – see "Spark Plug".
► Dry the spark plug.
► Move the Master Control lever to the stop
position (0).
► Crank the engine several times with the starter
to clear the combustion chamber.
► Install the spark plug – see "Spark Plug".
► Set Master Control lever to n – even if the
engine is cold.
► Now start the engine.

16 Operating Instructions

16.1 During the break-in period
A factory new machine should not be run at high
revs (full throttle off load) for the first three tank
fillings. This avoids unnecessarily high loads dur‐
ing the break-in period. As all moving parts have
to bed in during the break-in period, the frictional
resistances in the shortblock are greater during
this period. The engine develops its maximum
power after about 5 to 15 tank fillings.
