Battery: Checking Electrolyte Level - Audi R8 2015 Maintenance Manual

The battery is located behind the luggage compartment trim.
Requirements:
• Ignition switched off during test.
Removal steps:
– Remove luggage compartment back panel trim ⇒ General
body repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 70 ; Luggage compartment trim
panels; Overview of fitting locations - luggage compartment
trim panels .
– Remove luggage compartment floor ⇒ General body repairs,
interior; Rep. gr. 70 ; Luggage compartment trim panels;
Overview of fitting locations - luggage compartment trim pan‐
els .
Procedure:
– Check by hand that battery clamps -3- and -8- are securely
seated. If necessary, tighten nuts -4- and -7- to specified tor‐
que (see table of tightening torques for installation
⇒ page 14 ).
– Check by hand that battery is securely installed. If necessary,
tighten securing bolts -arrows- on retainer plate -1- to specified
torque (see table of tightening torques for installation
⇒ page 14 ).
Install in reverse sequence.

3.7.1 Battery without magic eye
The battery is located behind the luggage compartment trim.

Procedure:
– Check battery housing for the following:
♦ Battery terminals are not corroded or damaged
♦ Mechanical damage to battery housing and cover, indicated
by electrolyte leakage or crystals at the damaged area
– Damaged batteries must be renewed.
