Possible Cause
Improper cookware being used.
Cooktop controls improperly set.
Wrong pan type.
Pan is too small.
Pan not positioned correctly.
+, -, or control lock pads have been touched
before an element is turned on.
Incorrect cleaning methods being used.
Cookware with rough bottoms being used or
coarse particles (salt or sand) were between the
cookware and the surface of the cooktop.
Cookware has been slid across the cooktop
surface.
Food spillovers not cleaned before next use.
Hot surface on a model with a light-colored
glass cooktop.
Hot cooktop came into contact with plastic
placed on the hot cooktop.
Hot sugar mixture spilled on the cooktop.
Keypad is dirty.
A fuse in your home may be blown or the circuit
breaker tripped.
Improper cookware being used.
Pan is improperly placed.
Cooktop control improperly set.
Sounds you may hear: Buzzing, whistling and
humming.
What To Do
Use pans that are recommended for
induction, have flat bottoms and match the
size of the surface element.
Check to be sure the correct control is set for
the surface element you are using.
Use a magnet to check that cookware is
induction compatible.
Blinking "ON" indicator — pan size is below
the minimum size for the element. See the
Using the correct size cookware section.
Center the pan in the cooking ring.

section.
Use recommended cleaning procedures. See
the Cleaning the glass cooktop section.
To avoid scratches, use the recommended
cleaning procedures. Make sure bottoms
of cookware are clean before use, and use
cookware with smooth bottoms.

This is normal. The surface may appear
discolored when it is hot. This is temporary
and will disappear as the glass cools.

Call a qualified technician for replacement.
Clean the keypad.
Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker.
Use a flat induction capable pan that meets
the minimum size for the element being used.

Make sure the pan is centered on the
corresponding surface element.
Check to see that the control is set properly.
