Displaying Status When a Print Server is Used

The status of a network printer can be displayed on the client's Printer Status
Window as well as on the print server.
If the print server is not running when the Printer Status Window starts up, the
status will be displayed automatically when the print server starts up.
Printer Status of the Print Server
- Displays the status of the local print jobs and the client's print jobs.
- You can pause, resume, and cancel a print job.
- Plays a sound message.
- If the print server is Windows 2000/XP, the status is not displayed if no one is
logged on.
Client's Printer Status
- Clients can pause, resume, and cancel a print job.
- Only users or computers with the same name as the client's can play sound
messages.
NOTE
To display the print status display during a print job requested via a network, an
environment in which one of the following protocols can be used is required.
- TCP/IP
- NetBEUI
