I cannot record using Smart Capture, Smart Write, or Smart Label

About CD-ROMs and diskettes

All the advice mentioned in this chapter is valid for the PCGA-CD5 CD-ROM drive.
For other models, refer to your CD-ROM drive manual.
I cannot play a CD-ROM disc
Make sure that the switch of the CD-ROM drive is turned on and that
the AC adapter is connected securely.
The AC adapter's protection mechanism may be activated. Unplug
the AC adapter from the wall outlet and reconnect it after 2 or 3
minutes.
Make sure the label of the CD-ROM is facing up.
If the CD-ROM disc requires software, make sure the software is
installed according to the program's instructions.
Moisture condensation may have occurred. Disconnect the CD-ROM
drive and disconnect the power to the drive for at least one hour.
Make sure the CD-ROM drive is properly connected. See "CD-ROM
Drive" on page 42.
Make sure the computer is turned on.
The CD-ROM drive is not detected by the computer or does not run normally.
Check that the PC card you connect is the one supplied for using with
your CD-ROM drive.
Make sure the interface cable is connected to the PC card properly.
Make sure the PC card is seated securely in the PC card slot in the
computer.
Check the PC card slot for bent or broken pins.
The power of the CD-ROM drive is OFF.
A pickup cover is installed in your drive. Remove the pickup cover
before inserting a disc.
