Limitations on the use of 5 GHz
communications
R European regulations limit the frequencies of the 5 GHz band (IEEE
802.11a/n) that are available for outdoor use.
R 5.180 GHz – 5.240 GHz (channels 36–48) and 5.260 GHz –
5.320 GHz (channels 52–64) are permitted for indoor use only.
R If your wireless router detects radar waves, it may change channels
automatically and use frequencies that are restricted for outdoor use
(5.180 GHz – 5.240 GHz (channels 36–48) and 5.260 GHz –
5.320 GHz (channels 52–64)).
R When using frequencies in the 5.260 GHz – 5.320 GHz range
(channels 52–64) or the 5.500 GHz – 5.700 GHz range (channels 100–
140), the following limitations apply according to regulations.
– Before communication starts on each channel, the wireless router
scans for radar waves for 1 minute. During this time, the wireless
router will not communicate.
– If the wireless router detects radar waves while communicating, the
wireless router changes the channel automatically and
communication may be interrupted.
