3.4.2.2 C50 Port for Downloading Software

Additional signals are provided on this connector that implements the C50 function
of the Joint NEMA/AASHTO/ITE Specification for the Advanced Transportation
Controller, or 2070 ATC.
Secondary Transmit and Secondary Receive pins described in the EIA-232
specification for a 25-pin connector. The C50 port is the System Console port used
to upload and download updated versions of the traffic application software to
FLASH memory in lieu of changing PROM devices. C50 can also used to load new
versions of the operating system as they become available. Because C50 and
NEMA Port 2 appear on separate pins of this connector, they may be used
simultaneously via a "Y" adaptor cable, available from Siemens, as follows:

This cable may be permanently mounted in the cabinet to provide a connection to a
25-pin external modem, as well as a PC connection for installation of new software.
For NEMA Port 2 connection to a PC, such as MARC PC, a separate 25-pin to 9-pin
adaptor cable is available from Siemens as follows:
