Install blade (E) on upper plate pilot. The rotation arrows on the blade
must match the rotation arrow shown on the debris shield. Secure
blade with lower plate (F), and 10 mm left-hand threaded nut (G). Turn
nut counterclockwise on power take off shaft to tighten.
5.
Align hole in upper plate with notch in gear housing, and insert a
locking tool (H) to prevent splined shaft from turning. Tighten 10 mm
nut securely (do not use an impact wrench).

Insert a new cotter pin in hole in power take off shaft. Bend pin legs
around shaft counterclockwise to retain 10 mm nut. Do not reuse an old
cotter pin.
7.
Remove locking tool (H).
Shield with Cutoff Knife and Nylon Line Head
Installation
Parts required: shield with cutoff knife, shield plate, three screws, line head
plate, nylon line head.
Shield with cutoff knife is for use with the nylon line head only.
Install shield without cutoff knife when using plastic or metal
blades, or serious injury may result.
Wear gloves or personal injury may result:
Cutoff knife is sharp.
Gearcase and surrounding area may be hot.
Semi-automatic nylon line heads must be used only with debris
shield with cut-off knife. Using nylon line heads with debris shield
without cutoff knife can result in trimmer damage, caused by
operation with excessive line length.
Note: Your nylon line head may appear different than nylon line head
shown.

Remove blade, blade mounting hardware, and shield without cutoff
knife and retain for future use with blade conversions.
