MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the nut (2) of breather assembly (1).
2.
Remove the cover (3).
3.
Replace the breather element (4) with a new one.
4.
Install the cover (3) and nut (2).
METHOD FOR CHECKING ACCUMULATOR GAS PRESSURE
Contact your Komatsu distributor to have the gas pressure checked when making periodically replacement of
safety parts or performing the legally required 2000 hour or every year service.
METHOD FOR CHECKING ALTERNATOR
The brush may be worn and the grease in the bearings may have dried out.
Ask your Komatsu distributor for inspection and repair.
METHOD FOR CHECKING AND ADJUSTING ENGINE VALVE CLEARANCE
Special tools are necessary for inspection and maintenance. Ask your Komatsu distributor to perform this work.
METHOD FOR REPLACING KCCV FILTER ELEMENT
•
Stop the engine and wait until the engine and components cool before you change the filter. Hot en-
gine components can cause injury.
•
When replacing the KCCV filter element, use a stand for getting on and off safely, and pay attention
not to fall down.
NOTICE
•
Komatsu recommends using Komatsu genuine parts for replacement parts.
•
If the engine is operated without the filter element, the turbocharger and aftercooler become dirty
and their performance will lower and it can cause engine problems such as overrun caused by suc-
tion of oil. Never try such practice.
•
The filter element cannot be cleaned. Flushing or regenerating of the filter element will degrade the
performance of the filter. As a result, the turbocharger and aftercooler become dirty and the per-
formance lowers or the crankcase pressure increases. Never reuse the filter element since it can
cause an engine failure.
•
After the filter element is replaced, if KCCV is not assembled correctly, oil or blowby gas may leak.
Replace the filter element in the correct procedure.
