Notes on Handling the Units and Media

Pay attention to the following points in handling the
unit(s) and cassette, in order not to damage them and
to maintain top performance.
On handling the unit(s)
• Avoid vibration or shock, which may cause damage
or malfunction of the unit.
• Do not block the ventilation holes. Be sure to keep
10 cm or more between a wall and the air filter on the
rear, and 5 cm or more between walls and both sides
of the unit.
• Do not move a unit(s) with the power on.
• Do not move a unit(s) during operation because the
tape runs at very high speed during operation. If a
unit is moved, the operation may be destabilized or
the tape may be damaged.
• Do not move a unit with a cassette inserted. When a
unit will not be used, be sure to eject the cassette.
• Periodic maintenance of the units is recommended to
maintain top performance.
On handling cassettes
• Do not place a cassette near a strong magnetic field.
• Do not touch the tape in the cassette.
• Do not leave the cassette in a unit when it is not in
use.
• To prevent accidental erasure of data, a write-
protection tab is provided on the back of the cassette.
See "Write protection."
