The following points will be of interest to our Series 500 customers:
1. Siemens will take new orders for the Series 500 and 6MT products listed on the attachment up
until the "Service Only" date as long as stocks are available.

4. Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. Standard Policy for phased-out product: Siemens
Energy & Automation, Inc. remains committed to provide at least seven years of service and
support for those SIMATIC products transferred from Texas Instruments, Inc., including upgrades
and additions to that product line made by Siemens. The seven-year support period for the Series
500 and 6MT product families began with the effective announcement in October 1996. However,
Siemens will continue to provide repair services on these products for as long as practical beyond
the seven-year period, just as is being done today with many other obsolete products.
5. The following products are exempted from this announcement and will be sustained for 5 years or
so in order to assist customers in connecting their existing Series 500 I/O bases to newer Siemens
PLC systems via PROFIBUS-DP when desired:

6. THERE ARE NO PLANS TO PHASE OUT THE 505 PRODUCT LINE. SIEMENS ENERGY &

R & D INVESTMENTS IN THE 505 PRODUCT LINE. RECENT INTRODUCTIONS OF ALL NEW
CPUs (545-1105, 545-1106, 555-1105, 555-1106, 575-2105, 575-2106), ALONG WITH NEW
PowerMath    & SmarTune    FUNCTIONS, AS WELL AS PROFIBUS FMS, ETHERNET TCP/IP,
