    Connecting the MicroLink dLAN ADSL Modem Router Preconditions Your MicroLink dLAN ADSL Modem Router requires a computer running an operating system with network support (e.g. Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP, MAC OS X, Linux) connected to the MicroLink dLAN ADSL Modem Router either via LAN (Ethernet) or dLAN (power line).

The blue 'Power' LED on the front panel will light up. Connect the ADSL cable to the 'ADSL' socket on your router and to the ADSL connection.

    This button will take you to the next configuration page. All of the changes you have made to the configuration on this page will be reset to their original settings. These changes do not affect the router imme- diately. Keep in mind that the settings you have configured only take effect if you con- firm them under 'Save Settings' by clicking Save.

    The MAC address (Media Access Control) is a serial number and unique. It is programmed into the hardware and cannot be changed. The router has three MAC addresses; one for the local cabled network (LAN), one for the Internet (WAN) and one for the local network using the electric wiring (dLAN).

    Specify the password here. Select a new password to prevent unauthorized access to the configuration of your router. Enter it into both fields. You also enter your old password. The password must be at least 8 characters long. Should you ever forget your password, you will need to press the 'Factory Default' button.
  • Page 21 Please note that changing the IP address will disable the setup wizard. The setup wizard can only be used if the MicroLink dLAN ADSL Modem Router can be reached at its default IP address of '192.186.0.253' with the subnet mask '255.255.255.0'.
