Help and advice

If you have any problems using your Freestyle 65, this section will
give you the most common, easy to follow solutions.
Telephone problems
• Buzzing/poor reception.
• Answering machine not
recording incoming messages.
• Handset emits 3 beeps and
switches off.
• Unable to access the answering
machine menu.
• No dialling tone.
• Telephone will not dial out or
cannot receive calls.
• Additional handset does not ring
and no light on handset.
Possible cause
Handset aerial not extended.
Answering machine set to
Answer Only outgoing message.
Registration problem or interference.
You may be using a Freestyle 6
additional handset.
Telephone not connected to
telephone line.
Mains disconnected.
Power cut.
Handset battery pack is discharged.
Handset not registered.
Solution
Extend the handset aerial.
Check your outgoing message,
see page 22 and ensure the
answering machine is set to Answer
and Record, see page 22-23. Make
sure you have not invited your
caller to leave a message in your own
recorded Answer Only outgoing
message.
Call the BT Helpline on
08706 058 047 for assistance.
Make sure you are using the
Freestyle 65 handset (Handset 1) as
only the main Freestyle 65 handset
can access this facility.
Plug the telephone into the
telephone line.
Ensure the power supply is correctly
connected and switched on.
Wait until the power is restored.
Replace handset on base unit for 10
seconds and try again. If this does
not work, disconnect the handset
battery from the handset for 10
minutes. Also disconnect the mains
power.
Then reconnect the base unit to the
mains, then replace the handset on
the base unit for 10 seconds and try
again.
Place the handset on the base
unit and recharge it for 24 hours
ensuring the CHARGING light
is on.
