5.1

Mounting the sensor box

The sensor box can be mounted onto the motor in the factory (greenfield Option G81) or ordered
as a stand- alone box (brownfield). You can find more information in the Service Delivery
Specification for SIMOTICS CONNECT 600.
Information about replacing individual components is provided in Chapter Replacing
connectivity module components (Page 43).
Installation location
The installation conditions of the motor apply to the installation location of the sensor box. The
motor installation conditions are specified in the motor operating instructions.
Never place the sensor box in hazardous zones.
To protect the sensor box against vandalism and unauthorized opening, carefully ensure that
the sensor box location is adequately protected from being accessed.
The connectivity module fulfills the requirements for corrosion protection according to ISO
12944-5 : 2008-01 (superseded by EN ISO 12944-5:2018) for C2, C3 and C4. The precondition
is that the sensor box remains closed.

5.2

Mounting the IPC

Mount the IPC separately from the sensor box at a suitable location.
The installation instructions for the IPC are provided in the operating instructions of the IPC
component (Page 16).
Note
Carefully observe the five safety rules (Page 8) when performing any work.
Installation location
To protect against unauthorized physical access, install the IPC in a network or control cabinet
that can be closed and locked. Comply with the maximum permissible ambient temperature for
the IPC.
