To restart a warm engine, follow the
procedure for "Warm Engine."
NOTICE
• If the engine does not start within 5 seconds, turn the
ignition switch to the OFF position and wait 10 seconds
before trying to start the engine again to recover
battery voltage (Using the start button).
• Extended fast idling and revving the engine can
damage the engine, and the exhaust system.
Cold Engine
Make sure the fuel valve is in the ON position.

Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Shift the transmission to Neutral (

indicator comes on).
Move the choke lever left all the way to fully

ON.
Using the start button

With the throttle 1/8 - 1/4 open, press the
start button.
Using the kickstarter
Lightly depress the kickstarter until resistance
is felt.
Then let kickstarter return to the top of its
stroke.
With the throttle 1/8 - 1/4 open, operate the
kickstarter. Kick from the top of the stroke
through to the bottom with a rapid,
continuous motion.
Do not operate the kickstarter while the
u
engine is running as engine damage could
result. Do not apply excessive force on the
kickstarter.
Fold up the kickstarter after the kickstarter
u
is returned to the pedal stop.
Warm up the engine by opening and closing

the throttle slightly.
Continue warming up the engine until it runs
!g
smoothly and responds to the throttle, when
the choke lever is at fully OFF.
