Capacitor forming

SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES
The DC link capacitors must be re-formed if the converter has been
non-operational for more than one year. If the converter was started-up
within one year after having been shipped (serial number on the rating
plate), it is not necessary to re-form the DC link capacitors.
Forming is realized by switching-in a rectifier and resistor, which is
connected to the DC link. The converter supply must be
disconnected!
(circuit: refer to Fig. 6-1.)
The forming time is dependent on the time during which the converter
was not operational (see Fig. 6-2).
