Troubleshooting

Longer than normal brew time.
• Too much water was added (8 cups [1.2 L] max).
• Coffee Maker needs cleaning.
• Overflow protection may have been activated during brew. If a lot
of coffee is added and Filter Basket is about to overflow, Scale will
detect this and heater will turn off to allow Brew Basket to drain. Once
coffee has drained to a certain level, heater will turn back on and
finish brew. This may lengthen brew time.
Coffee tastes bad.
• Too much water or too little water was added.
• Too much coffee or too little coffee was added.
• Poor coffee quality or freshness.
• Poor water quality. Use filtered or bottled water for better taste, or
use water filter. Replacement filters available at
hamiltonbeach.com.
Display says to add water.
• Add amount of water shown on display. Use markings on reservoir
to determine correct amount. NOTE: Unit does not measure water
poured into reservoir.
Coffee weight not displaying correctly.
• Remove coffee, including paper filter, if being used.
• Push scale button. Display will show dashes.
• Place an empty paper filter in Brew Basket.
• Push scale button again. Display will zero out and then show amount
of coffee to add.
• Add coffee until Display Panel shows 0 grams of coffee.
Error Code appears.
• E01, E02, E03 – Please write Hamilton Beach Brands, Inc. Customer
Service Department, 4421 Waterfront Drive, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or
go to hamiltonbeach.com/customer-service.
• E04 – Unplug Coffee Maker and allow it to cool.
• E08 – Verify shower Head is located directly over the brew basket.
• CLEn – Clean Coffee Maker according to Care and Cleaning Section.
