Troubleshooting
Cause
The receiving fax machine may
not be working properly.
The document may not be
properly inserted in the
ADF.
The other party's fax may
not support ECM.
The phone line may be in
poor condition, or you may
have a poor connection.
The sending fax machine may
not be functioning properly.
The MultiPASS may not be
set to receive automatically.
The MultiPASS may have a
document stored in memory.
An error may have occurred
during reception.
The sheet feeder may be
empty.
The telephone line may not
be connected properly.
The MultiPASS is printing
a document.
Solution
Check the MultiPASS by
making a copy. If the copy is
clear, the problem may be in
the receiving fax machine.
Remove the document and
feed it correctly into the
ADF (see page 1-14).
Some fax units do not
support ECM transmission.
If the other party's fax does
not support ECM trans-
mission, then the document is
sent in the normal mode
without error checking.
Lower the transmission speed
(see pages 3-5 and 3-9).
The sending fax machine
usually determines the fax's
quality. Call the sender and
have them make sure the top
cover and scanning glass on
their fax machine are clean.
To receive faxes automatically,
the Receive mode must be
Fax Only or Fax/Tel mode.
Print out any document
stored in memory (see page
5-5).
Check the LCD for an error
message (see page 8-10).
Make sure paper is loaded
in the sheet feeder.
Make sure all phone line
connections are secure.
The incoming fax is stored
in memory and will print
when the print job is
complete.
