UniTools
are phantom-powered in-line
microphone accessories that can be used to
combine a channel, gate an input, roll off the
response, add a switch, notch out a frequency
or pad down a signal. Compact, economical
and easy to use, they provide outstanding,
reliable performance that would otherwise
require a fully-equipped accessory rack.
Available in six function-specific models,
UniTools are intended primarily for use with
UniPoint
®
and similar condenser micro-
phones. All have professional XLR-type
input/output connectors, and require
balanced cables and 24-48V DC phantom
power for operation. ("In" and "Out" mark-
ings refer to the mic audio .) All units permit
phantom voltage to pass on to the micro-
phone. Featuring rugged steel housings,
UniTools can be installed anywhere in-line,
either at the mixer input or near the mic.

LOW-FREQUENCY ROLL-OFF
Description: The AT8683 provides a steep low-
frequency attenuation to improve the quality of
sound pickup under difficult conditions without
affecting voice quality. Useful for minimizing back-
ground ambience, air conditioning rumble, mechani-
cal noise and other undesired low-frequency sounds.

Next, speak, sing or play an instrument loudly into the microphone to create a strong signal that causes excessive level or overloads the mixer input. Gradually turn the threshold down on the UniLim until the overload ceases, or until the desired maxi- mum level is reached.
