Retractable hard top (RHT)

The hard top system consists of three main moving parts:
front roof shell
rear roof shell
tonneau cover
Opening and closing is actuated by a hydraulic system, driven by a pump
and controlled by a number of sensors that check every stage of opening
and closing.
Warning
The retractable hard top (RHT) can be opened and closed when the
vehicle is moving. The maximum recommended speed for doing this is
30 km/h (9 mph). If the maximum speed is exceeded, opening/closed is
stopped.
The ECU records and stores the data regarding incorrect opening and
closing (including vehicle speed when the anomaly occurred).
If the maximum speed is exceeded, the ECU stops the RHT from being
opened or closed. If this is the case, slow down and press the control
button again to continue opening or closing the RHT.
When opening or closing the retractable hard top (RHT) when driving,
pay attention to the traffic conditions to avoid accidents. Do not
accelerate or brake suddenly when opening or closing the hard top.
Warning
Do not open or close the retractable hard top (RHT) when reversing
since rear visibility is reduced. Do not open or close the retractable hard
top (RHT) when driving on bumpy roads. Avoid opening or closing the
retractable hard top when there is a strong wind. Only open or close the
retractable hard top (RHT) when driving on a straight stretch of road.
Avoid sharp steering.
Warning
Loose items in the luggage compartment may move when the hard top
is being opened or closed and interfere with the mechanisms, affecting
its operating or damaging it. We recommend using the luggage net
provided.
Important note
Before opening or closing the hard top, refer to the paragraph "Placing
luggage in the luggage compartment" (see page 144).
Warning
The hard top must be opened or closed while correctly seated in the
driver's seat.
Warning
Before activating the hard top and while it is in motion, always check
that people and objects are at a safe distance from its moving parts. In
the event of danger, release the hard top switch; all movement will stop
immediately.
Warning
Before operating the retractable hard top, make sure that the backrest
of the child restraint system is set to its minimum height and that no-
one is seated on the rear seats.
