Error Messages

The following error messages may appear in the camera display:
Message
Shutter release
disabled. Recharge
battery.
This battery cannot
be used. It does not
communicate
properly with this
camera. To use the
camera safely,
choose a battery
designated for use
in this camera.
No memory card.
Cannot access this
memory card.
Insert another card.
Problem
Battery exhausted.
Battery info not
available.
Battery cannot
supply data to
camera.
Camera cannot
detect memory card.
Error accessing
memory card.
Unable to create new
folder.
Solution
• Replace with spare battery.
• Charge battery.
• Battery cannot be used.
Contact Nikon-authorized
service representative.
• Battery level is extremely
low; charge battery.
Replace third-party batteries
with genuine Nikon batteries.
Turn camera off and confirm
that card is correctly inserted.
• Use Nikon-approved card.
• If error persists after card has
been repeatedly ejected and
reinserted, card may be
damaged. Contact retailer or
Nikon-authorized service
representative.
Delete files or insert new
memory card after copying
important pictures to
computer or other device.
