Tractor Hook-Up

Refer to Figure 1-2:
!
DANGER
To avoid serious injury or death:
A crushing hazard exists while hooking-up and unhooking the
implement. Keep people and animals away while backing-up
to the implement or pulling away from the implement. Do not
operate hydraulic controls while a person or animal is directly
behind the power machine or near the implement.
!
WARNING
To avoid serious injury or death:
Lightweight tractors with rear attached implements may need
weights added to the front to maintain steering control.
Consult your tractor Operator's Manual to determine proper
weight requirements and maximum weight limitations.
A 3-Point Category I is required. The lower 3-Point arms
of the 3-Point hitch must be stabilized to prevent side-to-
side movement. Most tractors have sway blocks or
adjustable chains for this purpose.
1.
Locate on a flat and level concrete surface.
2. Slowly back tractor up to the Scarifier while using the
tractor's 3-Point hydraulic control to align the lower
hitch arms ball swivels with the hitch lugs on the
Scarifier.
3. Without chaining 3-point lift height, shut tractor down
according to "Tractor Shutdown Procedure" on
page 8.
4. Attach lower arms to the hitch pins and secure with
linchpins. (Linchpins supplied by customer)
5. Connect top center link to the upper hitch using
customer supplied clevis pin and linchpin. If required,
start tractor and slowly raise 3-Point hitch about 1 - 2"
(2-5 cm) to align center link with Scarifier center hitch
pin hole.
6. Ensure that lower hitch arms are blocked to prevent
excessive side movement.

up and down to check for clearance between
Scarifier and tractor tires, frame and drawbar.
8. Shut tractor down according to "Tractor Shutdown
Procedure" on page 8.
9. Move or remove the drawbar if it interferes with the
Scarifier.
10. Manually adjust one of the two Lower lift arms up or
down to level the Scarifier from left to right.
11. Manually adjust the length of the top center link to
level the Scarifier from front to rear.
Unhook Scarifier
!
WARNING
To avoid serious injury or death:
Scarifiers, without a rake or rear blade attached, can tip over
while unhooking from a tractor. Secure Scarifier with bracing
before unhooking from the unit.
1.
See "Long-Term Storage" on page 14 when parking
the Scarifier for long periods.
1.
Park on a level, solid surface.
2. Lower Scarifier until teeth are resting on level ground
or until its main beam is resting on solid supports.
3. Shut tractor down according to "Tractor Shutdown
Procedure" on page 8.
4. Stabilize Scarifier with bracing before unhooking
tractor's 3-Point arms. Make sure bracing is secure
and will not slip while unhooking.
5. Unhook 3-Point hitch from tractor. Reinstall hitch
pins, linchpins, and hair pin cotters in Scarifier hitch
for safe keeping.
6. Remove bracing and rotate Scarifier down so that it is
laying on the ground or use auxiliary supports such
as post planted in the ground to prevent the
possibility of the unit tipping over.
