Digital NICAM Behaviour
If the signal received does not indicate a valid and error free
NICAM sound, then analog FM/AM sound is selected.
Otherwise NICAM is selected automatically. After each
programme change, the NICAM sound will be preferred.
NICAM sound preference will be respected if the received
sound type indicates that the NICAM sound is related to the
picture. Otherwise NICAM preference will be overruled by
switching to analog FM or AM mono. Whenever the user forces
a different sound mode, the automatic following of the received
sound type will be terminated and forced preference of the user
is assigned the higher priority. The bit error rate is monitored
regularly to check the quality of the NICAM signal. The analog
FM/AM mono channel is forced when the bit error rate exceeds
a maximum value. The previous sound mode will be restored
as soon as the bit error rate drops below the maximum value.
If the previous sound mode happens to be analog FM or AM,
then this will have no effect.

Mute will be stored to NVM before cold power on and will stay
in it's last state after switching the TV set on. All through the
time mute is active, mute symbol will be displayed on the
screen permanently.
Back-end Mute:
The loudspeakers and the headphone are automatically muted
when there is no ident from the video processor. Audio is muted
within 200msec after the back-end ident disappears. Mute
stays active for 1sec. after ident returns. For all internal and
external sources that are selected, this ident control and sound
mute will be performed.
Front-end Mute:
If the terrestrial front-end does not deliver any ident, audio is
muted within 200 msec. after the front-end ident disappears.
Mute stays active for 1 sec. after the ident returns.
Smart Sound Modes
4 different Smart Sound Modes (Voice, Music, Theatre and
Personal) are available. User can select any of these modes or
return to the personal selections. Using the Smart Sound key
on the Remote Control unit can perform selection of different
modes or returning to personal selections. When Smart Sound
key is pressed for the first time, an OSD stating the current
mode will be displayed. In order to select another mode this key
must be pressed before the OSD disappears (within 5
seconds). The last selected mode is always stored to NVM.
