SECTION 1—GENERAL GUIDELINES
SECTION 1 - GENERAL GUIDELINES contains important information for the safe operation and
use of this product.

Important Information

There are several adjustments available when the back is used on manual and power wheelchairs. Those adjustments include 
height, depth and angle. There is no angle or depth adjustment available when the back is used on Invacare Power 
Wheelchairs with Power Recline.
The procedures in the installation section require a 3/16 Allen wrench. A 7/16 wrench is required is required if installing the 
back onto an Invacare Power Wheelchair with Power Recline.
The back cushion is NOT designed for use in the treatment of pressure sores.
The best way to avoid problems related to pressure sores is to understand their causes and your role in a skin management 
program.
Your therapist and physician should be consulted if you have any questions regarding weight relief, self‐examination of skin, 
or individual limitations and needs.
All seating systems should be selected carefully. Working with your therapist, physician and equipment supplier is the best 
way to assure that a seating system choice matches the individuals needs.
As the needs of the individual become more complex, the InTouch PCS Positioning Back evaluation becomes more important.

Seating Pressure Warning

Skin condition should be checked frequently after the installation and use of any new seating system.

Installation Warnings

After any adjustments, repair or service and before use, make sure that all attaching hardware is tightened securely.
DO NOT install the InTouch PCS Positioning Back onto back canes with an outside diameter greater than 1" or less than 7/8" 
nominal (0.800" actual) ‐ otherwise, injury or damage may occur.
Ensure the InTouch PCS Positioning Back is properly secured to the wheelchair before using.

Weight Capacity

The weight capacity of the back may be directly limited by the weight capacity of the wheelchair
that it is being installed and used on. The user's weight MUST NOT exceed the weight capacity of
the wheelchair or back.
