Connecting
6.9 Connecting the PROFIBUS DP interface (410 DP only)
PROFIBUS line (DP line)
A DP line is a bus cable between two terminating resistors and can contain up to 64 PROFIBUS
slaves. In addition, a DP line is limited by the permissible cable length, which varies according
to the transmission rate.
Terminating resistor
A cable must be terminated with its own surge impedance to prevent line disturbances caused
by reflections. Activate the terminating resistor at the first and last node of a subnet or segment
(ON).
Make sure that the nodes to which the terminating resistor is connected are always supplied
with voltage during power-up and operation.

PROFIBUS cables and connectors

Features of PROFIBUS cables
The PROFIBUS cable is a two-core, twisted and shielded cable with the following features:

Wave impedance
Loop resistance
Working capacity
Attenuation
Permissible core cross-section
Permissible cable diameter
Connector features
The bus connector is used to connect the PROFIBUS cable to the PROFIBUS DP interface
(X21), thus establishing a connection to additional nodes.
You will find an overview of the bus connectors available for order in the chapter titled "Spare
parts and accessories".
