7.6.4 To remove the fuel filter
1. Pull out the fuel filter through the opening in the fuel
tank with a fuel filter hook. Refer to
on page 8 .
2. Loosen the hose clamp to remove the fuel filter from
the hose.
7.6.5 To clean and examine the fuel filter
CAUTION: Always replace a damaged fuel filter.
1. Examine the fuel filter.
a) If the fuel filter is dirty, clean it with a brush.
b) If the fuel filter cannot be cleaned, replace the
fuel filter.
2. Examine the fuel hose for cracks and leaks. Replace
the fuel hose if it is damaged.
7.6.6 To attach the fuel filter
1. Attach the fuel filter to the fuel hose.
2. Make sure that you put the fuel filter as high up into
the fuel hose as possible.
3. Tighten the hose clamp. Make sure that the filter
cannot move off the tube.

7.7.2 The function of the carburetor

Before the engine is started, the air in the carburetor
must be removed. When the primer bulb (2) is pushed, a
vacuum is caused in the inner bulb. When the vacuum is
released, fuel moves from the fuel tank through the inlet
tube (9). The fuel continues through the carburetor to
the outlet tube (8) and into the fuel tank. This removes
the air from the carburetor.
The fuel pump system (1) has 4 parts, the pump cover
(15), the pump diaphragm (14), the pump body (14) and
the pump chamber (13). When the engine operates, the
fuel pump system supplies fuel to the carburetor. The
crankcase sends a pulse through the pulse hole (15) to
