MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

Before any work on the device itself,
EN
pull the mains plug.
Always keep the tool and the ventilation slots (if
present) cleaned. Regular cleaning and maintenance of
the appliance will ensure efficiency and prolong the life
of your tool.
If the tool should fail despite the rigorous
manufacturing and testing procedures, the repair should
be carried out by an authorized IVT customer service.
Keep all nuts, bolts, and screws tight, to be sure the
tool is in safe working condition.
Replace worn or damaged parts for safety.
Use only original spare parts. Par ts not produced
by manufacturer may cause poor fit and possible injury.
Store the tool in a dry room out of reach of kids and
away from any flammable material.
Never wet the device or spray water on it!
It is necessary to sharpen in due time blunted
blades or to replace the damaged blades. Continued
use of blunt or worn blades will reduce the efficiency of
the planer and could overload the motor.
In order to avoid imbalances and vibrations always
replace or sharpen both knives at the same time.
It is forbidden to work only with one knife.
Only use blades which are delivered together with
original tool or available from the IVT authorized shops.
Replacement of the blades [F5]
ATTENTION! The new blade must be
the same size and weight as the old
one; otherwise the shaft will vibrate,
the cutting quality will be pour and the
tool may be damaged.
Remove the existing blade (10), if the tool has been
in use, carefully clean the drum (11) surfaces and the
drum plate (12). To remove the blades (10) on the drum
(11), unscrew the bolts with the socket wrench (25). The
drum plate (12) comes off together with the blades (10).
To install the blades (10), loosely attach the
adjusting plate (13) to the set plate (14) with the pan
head screws (9) and set the blade (10) on the gauge
base (19) so that the cutting edge of the blade (10) is
perfectly flush with the inside flank of the gauge plate
(18).
Set the adjusting plate (13) / set plate (14) on the
gauge base (19) so that the blade locating lugs (15) on
the set plate (14) rest in the blade groove, then press in
the heel of the adjusting plate (13) flush with the back
side of the gauge base (19) and tighten the pan head
screws (9).
It is important that the blade (10) sits flush with the inside
flank of the gauge plate (18), the blade locating lugs (15)
sit in the blade groove and the heel of the adjusting plate
(13) is flush with the back side of the gauge base (19).
Check this alignment carefully to ensure uniform cutting.
Slip the heel of the adjusting plate (13) into the
groove of the drum (11).
Set the drum plate (12) over the adjusting plate (13)
/ set plate (14) and screw in the hex flange head bolts
so that a gap exists between the drum (11) and the set
plate (14) to slide the blade (10) into position. The blade
(10) will be positioned by the blade locating lugs (15) on
the set plate (14).
The blade's lengthwise adjustment will need to be
manually positioned so that the blade ends are clear
and equidistant from the housing on one side and the
metal bracket on the other.
Tighten the hex flange head bolts and rotate the
drum (11) to check clearances between the blade ends
and the tool body.
Check the hex flange head bolts for final tightness.
Sharpening the blades (10) [F6]
Always keep your blades (10) sharp for the best
performance possible. Use the sharpening holder (23)
to remove nicks and produce a fine edge.
First, loosen the wing nuts on the sharpening holder
(23) and insert the blades (10), so that they contact the
sides. Then tighten the wing nuts. Immerse the dressing
stone in water for 2 or 3 minutes before sharpening. Hold
the sharpening holder (23) so that the both blades (10)
contact the dressing stone for simultaneous sharpening
at the same angle.
Changing drive belt
When the belt is worn prevents the power tools from
running properly. It must be replaced.
Remove the belt cover (3) by loosening the screws
with a screwdriver. [F7]
Remove the belt by turning it and pulling it out.
Clean the belt pulley wheels with a brush.
CAUTION! Never use water or harsh
liquids.
