RADIATOR FAN CONTROL SYSTEM
SYSTEM INSPECTION
WARNING:
Keep hands, tools, and clothing away from engine cool-
ing fan to help prevent personal injury. This fan is electric
type and can turn on whether or not the engine is run-
ning. The fan can start automatically in response to the
ECT sensor with the ignition switch at ON position.
Start engine and keep it running to warm it up.
Now check to ensure that radiator fan in turns on and off when indi-
cator of coolant temp. meter moves to the level as shown in the fig-
ure.
If check result is not satisfactory, check radiator fan control relay,
wire harness, ECT sensor, ECM/PCM and coolant temp. meter.

CHECK, ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE METER INSPEC-
TION AND ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR IN-
SPECTION in SECTION 8B.
RADIATOR FAN CONTROL RELAY

INSPECTION
1) Disconnect negative cable at battery.
2) Remove radiator fan control relay (1) from fuse/relay box.
3) Structure of radiator fan control relay is the same as that of main
relay. (Refer to MAIN RELAY of ECM/PCM POWER SUPPLY
SYSTEM in this section.)
Measure its resistance and operation using the same proce-
dure as that for main relay. (Refer to MAIN RELAY of ECM/PCM
POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM in this section.)
If found defective, replace.
EGR SYSTEM
SYSTEM INSPECTION
NOTE:
Before inspection, check to make sure that gear shift lever is
in neutral position (with A/T model, selector lever in "P"
range) and that parking brake lever is pulled all the way up.
