7. Remove the BBC shield and brush or blow all the
debris from under the shield and around the BBC
system.
8. Install the BBC shield. Rotate the tabs 180 back into
position. Tighten the nuts or the bolts on tabs to secure
the BBC shield to the deck.
9. Install the blade, the accelerator, the anti-scalp cup,
and the two blade nuts.
10. Turn the lawn mower upright.
11. Connect the wire to the spark plug.

Cleaning under the Belt Cover

Keep the area under the belt cover free of debris.
1. Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts to stop.
2. Remove the bolts that secure the belt cover (Fig. 30) to
the lawn mower housing.

3. Lift off the cover and brush out all the debris around
the belt area.
4. Install the belt cover.

Cleaning the Cooling System

After every 75 operating hours, clean the cylinder, the
cylinder head fins, and around the carburetor and the
linkage with a brush or an air hose. Remove debris from
the air intake slots on the recoil housing. This ensures
proper cooling and optimum engine performance.

Adjusting the Throttle

You may need to adjust the throttle control if the engine
does not start. Whenever you install a new throttle control
cable, adjust it.
1. Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts to stop.
2. Disconnect the wire from the spark plug (Fig. 22).

slides (Fig. 31).

5. Ensure that the holes in the throttle bracket and the
choke lever are aligned (Fig. 31). If not, follow the
adjustment procedure in steps 6 through 9.
6. Insert a small-diameter pin into the aligned holes to
hold the adjustment (Fig. 31).
7. Push the throttle cable until the throttle lever contacts
the choke lever (Fig. 31).
8. Tighten cable clamp screw (Fig. 31).
9. Remove the pin.
