Radio mode

This device is equipped with an RDS radio
receiver. Many of the receivable FM stations
broadcast a signal that not only carries the
programme but also additional information
such as the station name and programme
type (PTY).
The station name appears on the display as
soon as the tuner receives it.

Adjusting the tuner

To ensure proper functioning of the tuner,
the device must be set for the region in
which it is being operated. You can select
among Europe "EUROPE", America "USA",
Thailand "THAILAND", and South America
"SOUTH AMERICA". If you experience prob-
lems with your radio reception, check this
setting.
Note:
The functions available in radio mode
depend on the currently adjusted re-
gion. Corresponding notes in this chap-
ter indicate whether a function is avail-
able for specifi c tuner regions or not.

Switch off the device by pressing the
On/Off button 3.
u
Press and hold the softkeys 8 and ;
at the same time and switch on the de-
vice again using the On/Off button 3.
The "Area" menu with the available re-
gions "USA", "EUROPE", "THAILAND" and
"SOUTH AMERICA" as well as the current
setting is displayed.
u
Select your tuner region with the
corresponding softkey "USA" 6,
"EUROPE" 7, "THAILAND" 8 or
"SOUTH AMERICA" ;.
To save the setting,
u
press the OK button B. The radio
starts in the operating mode selected
last (e.g. radio, CD or CD changer).

Setting the number of antennas

This device is equipped with two RDS radio
receivers (TwinCeiver). You can connect
one or two antennas to the device. If two
antennas are used (strongly recommend-
ed, the second antenna is part of the scope
of delivery) a directional receiption of the
station being received is possible in DDA
radio mode. In most cases, the directional
receiption signifi cantly improves the recep-
tion quality.
Note:
To ensure proper functioning of the
tuner, the main antenna must be con-
nected to the bottom antenna socket.
To set the number of antennas,
u
press the MENU button A.
u
Press the NEXT button 2.
u
Press the "One Antenna" softkey 6
for 1 antenna or "Two Antennas" 7 for
2 antennas.
The softkey with the selected setting is
brightly highlighted.
When you have fi nished making your
changes,
u
press the OK button B repeatedly un-
til you reach the desired menu level for
additional settings or completely exit
the menu.
