Testing the System

Note:
Do not put any diskettes in the drives yet. If you have more than one external
drive attached. they must all be switched on. even If you plan to use only one.
Go Into TI BASIC and enter the following program.
100 OPEN #1 :"OSK1
110 CLOSE #1
Run the program and observe drive one (DSKl). The light should come on briefly.
indicating that the drive Is connected properly. If the drive light does not come on or if
it comes on and stays on. check all connections and see that all devices have power.
The Controller Card light flashes when the controller accesses a disk drive.
Note:
Even though the disk drive is operating. the following message appears on the screen
because there is no diskette In the disk drive.
*1/0 ERROR 06 IN 100
Repeat the test for drives two and three if you have them. altering the program to
reference DSK2 and DSK3. respectively.
When you have verified that the disk drives are operating. type BYE and press
You are ready to start using your disk system as described in the following sections of
this manual. If you have problems in operating the disk system. please review the
Service and Warranty

Removing the Disk Drive Controller Card

1. Turn off the computer console. Peripheral Expansion System. monitor. and any
other attached accessories.
2. Wait two minutes and remove the top from the peripheral system unit.
3. If you have an internal disk drive. disconnect the drive from the Controller Card.

4. Pull up the wire handles on the ends of the card.
5. Firmly pull on the handles to remove the card from its slot in the peripheral system
unit.
