F Connect one end of the red cable to the
(+) terminal of the flat battery A, then the
other end to the (+) terminal of the back-up
battery B.
F Connect one end of the green or black
cable to the (-) terminal of the back-up
battery B.
F Connect the other end of the green or black
cable to the earth point C of your broken
down vehicle.
F Start the engine of the vehicle with the good
battery and wait for a few minutes.
F Operate the ignition switch of your vehicle
until the "Ready" lamp comes on.
F Disconnect the jump cables in reverse
order.
F Refit the protective cover on the battery and
tighten the retaining nut.
If the "Ready" warning lamp does not come on,
proceed as follows:
F Leave the cables connected.
F Set the ignition switch of your vehicle to the
"LOCK" position.
F Charge the main battery, following the
normal charging procedure.
F When the charging indicator lamp comes on
constantly (fixed) in the instrument panel,
disconnect the cables.
F Allow the charging to continue for at least
one hour.
F Operate the ignition switch of your vehicle
until the "Ready" lamp comes on.
If the problem persists, contact a CITROËN
dealer or a qualified workshop.

In the event of a breakdown
Charging the battery using
a battery charger
F Remove the battery protective cover.
Make sure the electrolyte is not frozen.
Check the level and top up with distilled
water, if necessary.

F Unscrew nut 1 and remove the retaining
clip.
