CHARGING A LEAD-ACID BATTERY
First ensure that it is a lead-acid battery with a voltage of 6 V or 12 V. Rechargeable batteries with other voltages cannot be charged!
• Disconnect all consumers from the rechargeable battery.
• If the rechargeable battery is built into a vehicle, switch off the ignition and all consumers.
Please strictly observe any and all information and safety instructions of the vehicle on how the rechargeable vehicle battery needs to be charged. Modern
vehicles are equipped with sensitive electronic components and control units which will be damaged when handled improperly!
• First, connect the charger to a mains socket (220 – 240 VAC/50/60 Hz).
• Please connect the proper connection adapter with the charging cable of the device.
• Now, connect the charger to the rechargeable battery observing correct polarity. Reverse polarity on the connected rechargeable battery is indicated by LED 5. Audio warning will also be
given.
• Then, you may select from various functions by activating the MODE button (11). Please strictly observe the information of the manufacturer of the rechargeable battery concerning
permissible final charging voltage and maximum charging current when selecting the correct operating mode. The next chapter contains the description of the individual operating modes.
Only in the first 10 seconds after connecting the rechargeable battery, it is possible to select the desired charge mode. If you, for example, selected the wrong mode, you must
disconnect the rechargeable battery once again from the charger and reconnect it.
• After charging, disconnect the charger from the mains voltage.
• Then remove the terminal from the minus pole of the rechargeable battery and then from the plus pole.

DESCRIPTION OF OPERATING MODES

Winter mode (1)
The winter mode is suitable for charging rechargeable 12V batteries from 14 Ah (please observe the information of the manufacturer of the rechargeable battery) at outside temperatures
below 10°C.
Press the MODE button (11) again and again until LED 1 flashes. After approx. 10 seconds the LED is constantly on and the charging procedure starts.
The charging current is 4.5 A +/- 10 %, however it will be reduced during the different charging phases. The final charge voltage is 14.7 V +/- 0.2 V.
The charging status is indicated by LEDs 7, 8 and 9. When all LEDs are constantly on, the rechargeable battery is full.
You may always use this mode also for rechargeable batteries which in accordance with the technical specifications of the manufacturer are suitable for higher final charging
voltage. For this purpose please observe the charging instructions of the manufacturer of the rechargeable battery.
Summer mode (2)
The summer mode is suitable for charging rechargeable 12V batteries from 14 Ah (please observe the information of the manufacturer of the rechargeable battery) at outside temperatures
above 10°C.
After connecting the charger to the mains supply, the summer mode is automatically preset.
Otherwise press the MODE button (11) again and again until LED 2 flashes. After approx. 10 seconds the LED is constantly on and the charging procedure starts.
The charging current is 4.5 A +/- 10% however it will be reduced during the different charging phases. The final charge voltage is 14.4 V +/- 0.2 V.
The charging status is indicated by LEDs 7, 8 and 9. When all LEDs are constantly on, the rechargeable battery is full.
Motorbike mode 6V (3)
The motorbike mode 6V is suitable for charging smaller rechargeable 6 V batteries below 14 Ah (please observe the information of the manufacturer of the rechargeable battery).
Press the MODE button (11) again and again until LED 3 flashes. After approx. 10 seconds the LED is constantly on and the charging procedure starts.
The charging current is 1 A +/- 10 % however it will be reduced during the different charging phases. The final charge voltage is 7.2 V +/- 0.2 V.
The charging status is indicated by LEDs 7, 8 and 9. When all LEDs are constantly on, the rechargeable battery is full.
Attention!! The charging programm must be selected again if a power outage occurs while this charging mode is in process.
Motorbike mode 12V (4)
The motorbike mode 12V is suitable for charging smaller rechargeable 12 V batteries below 14 Ah (please observe the information of the manufacturer of the rechargeable battery).
Press the MODE button (11) again and again until LED 4 flashes. After approx. 10 seconds the LED is constantly on and the charging procedure starts.
The charging current is 1A +/- 10 % however it will be reduced during the different charging phases. The final charge voltage is 14.4 V +/- 0.2 V.
The charging status is indicated by LEDs 7, 8 and 9. When all LEDs are constantly on, the rechargeable battery is full.
Attention!! The charging programm must be selected again if a power outage occurs while this charging mode is in process.
Regeneration mode
If a deep discharged rechargeable battery is connected to the charger, the regeneration mode is the first mode to start. Pulsing charging currents are used to try and bring the deep
discharged rechargeable battery to a voltage where the normal charging process is possible. The maximum time for regeneration is 20 minutes. If no normal battery voltage is reached in
this time, the charger stops the process and LED 6 is on. At the same time an audio warning will also be given.
Defective rechargeable batteries
The charger recognises defective rechargeable batteries automatically. In this case the selected charging programme will not be started. LED 6 is on and audio warning is given.
Protection against short circuits and reverse polarity
The charger recognises a short circuit or a battery which has been connected with wrong polarity automatically. In this case the selected charging programme will not be started. LED 5 is
on and an audio warning is given.
