■ Detergents/Fabric softeners/Bleach
Consider the environment when using detergents and fabric softeners. Use them carefully
and in the appropriate amount. Even though biodegradable, detergents contain substances
that will upset the balance of nature when discharged in large quantities as waste.
Select an appropriate detergent for the type of fabric and whether it is white or coloured and
patterned. The following types can be used. Be sure to check that they are marked
compatible for drum-type washing machines.
Powdered
Liquid
Wollens and delux type
Oxide compound bleach
Have sufficient quantity of the detergent, liquid softener, bleach, etc. to each prescribed
before starting the washing program (see on page 66-67, Using Detergent and Additives).
Select the type and amount of detergent according to the following factors.
Type of fabric (delicates, woolens, cottons, etc.)
Colour
Washing load volume
Degree of soiling
Washing temperature
Water hardness
Water has degrees of hardness. Please consult your water utilities provider for information
on water hardness in your area.
Setting the washing temperature at 40 ° C or higher makes it possible to use less than the
amount recommended by the detergent manufacturers because the detergent cleaning
effect increases. If over-foaming or if foam remains after rinsing, please reduce the amount
of detergent used.
Liquid detergents can not be used with with Prewash or Delay Start washing.
If using liquid detergent do not put it directly in the drum. Liquid detergent should be placed
in the input tray indicated for the main wash, just before the course starts.
If using soap detergent, whether powdered or liquid, be sure to melt it and put it directly into
the drum. Do not put it in the detergent case. After use, wash the drum as instructed in the
section "Cleaning the drum" on page 81.
Before the wash, add fabric softener where indicated by this mark:
Be careful not to use too much fabric softener, as this can cause re-contamination,
blackening the clothes (Please refer to the section on dis-colouration and darkening
on page 74).
Reduce the amount of detergent for small loads and lightly soiled washing.
Use oxide compound bleach.
Please note that chlorine bleach will corrode the stainless steel drum.
Using too much or the wrong type of detergent can cause the following problems:
Over-foaming and bubbling, leakage and breakdown.
Non dissolution, overflowing from the insert tray to the drum, soiling of clothes and
build up of mildew.
Non-dissolution
There is a risk that accumulated waste left on the drum will burn during the drying operation.
