Inspecting the Cutting Unit

Parts needed for this procedure:

Procedure
After the cutting unit is removed from the box, inspect
the following:
1.
Check each end of the reel for grease.
Note:
Grease should be visibly evident in the
internal splines of the reel shaft.
2.
Ensure that all nuts and bolts are securely
tightened.
3.
Make sure that the suspension of the carrier
frame operates freely and does not bind when
moved back and forth.

Using the Kickstand

No Parts Required
Procedure
Whenever the cutting unit has to be tipped to expose
the bedknife/reel, prop up the rear of the cutting unit
with the kickstand (supplied with the traction unit) to
make sure that the nuts on the back end of the bedbar
adjusting screws are not resting on the work surface
(Figure
3).

Use
Inspect the cutting unit.
Use the kickstand when tipping the
cutting unit.
Adjust the rear shield.
Install the loose parts.
