2. Information of BKSI-2010
2-8. NOVRAM Setup
Set up a NOVRAM on the BKSI-2010 (SCS-4 board) after the SCS-4 board installation or replacement.
This setup is necessary for every SCS-4 board. Therefore, if your SIU-80 has any BKSI-2010 boards (one
SIU-80 has up to eight BKSI-2010 boards), interchange the cable connection, and execute the setup to
every board.
The BKSI-2010 supports the following two file modes. The items to be set up differ according to the file
mode.
. . . . . Multi File Mode
This mode allows each array to store the file system. Even if data does not fit on one array, the
data cannot be continued writing on the next array. Multiple files are written in one array.
The number of files that one BKSI-2010 can control is as shown below.

In this mode, Ciprico AR6712, MAV-S100, or MAV-S110 can be connected to the BKSI-2010.
MAV-S110 and MAV-S110 can be combined but Ciprico and MAV Series cannot be combined.
This mode is not used in STAS-10 (Sony Transmission Automation System).

After changing the connection of the arrays, perform this setup.
. . . . . Single File Mode
This mode allows the arrays' writable area connecting to the BKSI-2010 to operate as one file.
(In this mode, an available area of the arrays connecting to the BKSI-2010 are regarded as a
long-recording tape.) If data does not fit on one array, the data can be continued writing on the
next array.
The first array (SCSI ID =0) is the only array to store the file system.
In this mode, Ciprico AR6712, MAV-S100, or MAV-S110 can be connected to the BKSI-2010
but the various type arrays, such as MAV-S100 and MAV-S110, cannot be combined.
This mode is used in STAS-10.
