5. Restore the electrical supply to the engine. Install
the guards.
6. Operate the engine for 15 to 20 minutes. Refer to
Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Starting the
Engine" for the correct procedure.
7. Stop the engine. Refer to Operation and
Maintenance Manual, "Stopping the Engine" for
the correct procedure.
8. Isolate the electrical supply to the engine. Remove
the guards.
9. Loosen bolts (5) and loosen the locknut (4).
10. Rotate the rod (3) to achieve a final tension of
62 N (14 lb). The total deflection should not
exceed 16 mm (0.63 inch).
11. Tighten the locknut (4) to a torque of 120 N·m
(88.5 lb ft). Tighten bolts (5) securely.
12. Restore the electrical supply to the engine. Install
the guards.

Inspect
To maximize the engine performance, inspect the
belts for wear and for cracking. Replace belts that are
worn or damaged.
To check accurately the belt tension, a suitable
gauge should be used.
1. Isolate the electrical supply to the engine.

2. Visible inspect fan guards for ware or damage.

Repair as necessary. Remove the fan guards (1).
3. Inspect the belts for cracks, splits, glazing, grease,
displacement of the cord and evidence of fluid
contamination. If necessary, replace the belts,
refer to "Replace" for more information.
Adjust
1. Ensure that the electrical supply to the engine is
isolated.
2. Using a suitable belt tensioning tool, check the
tension of the fan belts. the belt tension should be
checked in the middle point between the two
pulleys.
• New belt tension should be set to 49 N (11. lb)
• Belt tension range should be from 31 N to 49 N
(6.9 lb to 11 lb)
• Belt deflection should be 4.2 mm (0.165 inch)
