Startup procedure
If combustion at either high or low fi re is outside
the range given in Figure 80 , follow the procedure
given for adjusting the thrott le screw on the gas
valve. If thrott le screw adjustment does not correct
the problem, then shut down the boiler and contact
your local Weil-McLain representative. Throttle
screw adjustment must be done only by a qualifi ed
technician, using calibrated test instruments. Failure
to comply could result in severe personal injury,
death or substantial property damage.

Adjust valve at low fi re
1. Lock the boiler into low fi re using the control. Verify that
the blower rpm value is correct for Low fi re (see Figure 79,
page 88 ) as displayed on the Manual Test Mode screen.
2. Check the combustion readings.

3. If results are acceptable at low fi re (as listed Figure 81, page 89 ),
verify high fi re readings again. Restore fi ring rate to AUTO.
4. If combustion results are not acceptable, ensure the boiler is locked
into low in Manual Test Mode and use a 2.5mm Allen wrench to
adjust the off set sett ing. Rotate towards the plus + to increase CO
rotate towards the minus – to decrease CO
then back 1/4 for adjustments.
5. Aft er adjustment set control back to high to verify High fi re CO
correct. Adjust if needed.
6. Proceed back to Low fi re to verify CO
7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until both High fi re and Low fi re meet the
requirements of Figure 80 . Restore Firing Rate to AUTO.
8. Consult your local Weil-McLain representative if acceptable results
cannot be obtained for both high and low fi re.
Adjust and test boiler controls
Follow instructions in this manual to set and verify operation of the
boiler controls.
Check ignition system safety shutoff device
1. Aft er the boiler has been installed, turn off the boiler.
2. Shut off the manual gas valve located down stream of gas valve to
stop fl ow of fuel to the boiler.
3. Turn on the boiler. It will start the ignition sequence, but will not
light. Aft er some time, the boiler will lockout, the display screen
will turn red, and the Control will fl ash "Ignition Fault". It means
that the boiler tried to ignite without success. Th e number of
tries before Lockout is in accordance with ASME CSD-1 – latest
edition. SVF 1500/2000/2500 = One (1) retry, SVF 3000 =Failure
and Lockout. Th is means that the ignition system safety device
worked properly.
4. Clear the Lockout condition by selecting "Manual Reset" in the
Diagnostic Menu.
5. Open the manual gas valve located down stream of gas valve to
resume fuel supply to the boiler.
