rotor
360° and
realign th

mark

the
timing
index mark.

the adjusting

necessary
to make an
adju

screw lock
nut

and
turn the adjusting
screw©
so
that
valve
clearance
offers
sl
ight
resistance when the clearance
gauge
®
is
inserted.
After comp leting
the
ad-
justment,
tighten the adjusting
scr
ew
lock nut
while
holding the adjusting
screw
to prevent it from turning.
Final-
ly,
recheck
the clearance to confirm
th
at
the
adjustment
h
as not been
dis-
turb
ed.
Ca

incorrect

the
cam chain is
slack
.
Follow the
procedure below.

Re move
th
e
generator
cover.
2. Rotate
generator
rotor cou nterclockw ise
until
th
e
"T"
mark
o
n th
e
rotor
lines
up
with
the
tim
ing
index
mark on
the
stator.
This adjustment is made
wi
th
the
piston
at
the
top
of the compression
stro
ke.
This
condition can
b
e
determined by
shifting
the tappets
wi
th the fingers.
If
the
tappets
are
free,
it
is an indication
that
the
p
iston
is
at
the
top of
the
compression
strok e.
3. Loosen
th
e
lock
nut

and cam chain
tension
set
bolt
@, and the cam cha
in
w
ill
be
tensioned
au tomatica lly.
4. Tighten the
lock
n
ut.

clogged

cover.
