Connecting an external encoder
Connecting the connecting cable
Note
Use only shielded cables to connect an external encoder to the encoder interface (X23). The
shielding must be connected with the metallic or metallized connector housing.
The pre-assembled connecting cables offer optimal noise immunity as well as sufficiently
measured cross-sections for the supply voltage of the external encoder.
The connecting cables are available in various lengths, see
Procedure for connecting encoders
To connect an external encoder (HTL or TTL encoder), proceed as follows:
1. Connect the connecting cable to the encoder.
2. Plug the D-Sub connector (15-pin) to the socket X23.
3. Lock the connector using the finger screws.
