Symptom
It takes a long time for the IC
recorder to start.
The IC recorder does not
operate.
The IC recorder does not
operate, even if you press
any button.
No sound comes from the
speaker.
Sound comes from only one
channel.
Sound comes from the
speaker even when the
headphones are plugged in.
Remedy
• If the IC recorder is required to process a large amount of data, it
may take longer for the IC recorder to start. This is not a
malfunction of the IC recorder. Wait until the start-up display
disappears.
• You may have formatted the memory of the IC recorder using the
computer. Use the IC recorder formatting function to format the
memory (page 95).
• The batteries are weak (page 12).
• The power to the IC recorder is off. Slide the
ON/OFF
switch in the direction of "
more than 1 second (page 13).
• The HOLD function is activated. Slide the
OFF
switch in the center direction (page 10).
• The volume is turned down completely (page 23).
• Headphones are plugged in (page 48).
• When you are listening to the FM radio, "Audio Output" is set to
"Headphones." Set it to "Speaker" (page 81) (for ICD-PX312F
only).
• When audio output of an external device connected to the IC
recorder is monaural and the recording mode is set to
"192kbps(MONO)" (SHQ) or "128kbps(MONO)" (HQ), sounds
are recorded only in one channel. In this case, set the recording
mode to "48kbps(MONO)" (SP) or "8kbps(MONO)" (LP) in the
menu (page 91).
• If you plug in the headphones not securely during playback, the
sound may come from the speaker. Unplug the headphones, and
then insert them securely.
• When you are listening to the FM radio, "Audio Output" is set to
"Speaker." Set it to "Headphones" (page 81) (for ICD-PX312F
only).
